Bob Scallan

Chief Executive Officer and President

Bob Scallan is a founder of STARway Services LLC, an on-demand, web-hosted business service designed to optimize employee talent.  He has over 30 years of proven sales, strategy, innovation and leadership experience.  Bob started his career at 3M Company and, discovering his passion for entrepreneurship, became the CEO and co-founder of the Innovative Distributor Group (IDG) until its sale to a public company in 1998.  Under Bob’s leadership, IDG was transformed from a traditional industrial distributor selling product to an early leader in integrated supply which creates greater value by combining product with information systems. 

Since selling IDG, Bob has helped a vast array of small and medium sized, for-profit and non-profit organizations.  A key insight from his work is that many organizations have the will power to be “Great” but not the systematic ways to instill the disciplines required of greatness. This was the motivation to fill this void around the discipline of people by creating STARway Service.  Along with STARway Services, Bob founded Pathway Guidance LLC, a regional strategy planning and execution firm, servicing the mid-market. 

He is the past chairman of the Cincinnati Chapters of Young Presidents Organization and World Presidents Organization.  He recently won two local awards for his contribution to entrepreneurship and is active in both private and non-profit boards.  He holds a bachelors degree in business from the University of Denver and completed the Owner/President Program at Harvard Business School.



Tom Hattersley

Vice President, Product Development

Tom Hattersley is a founder of STARway Services LLC, an on-demand, web-hosted business service designed to optimize employee talent. Discovering mid-market customers' need for tools to implement strategy at the individual employee level, Tom led the development of STARway Service. Tom helps clients to recognize that organizations can't change their strategies without changing their employees' behavior.

Tom has over 30 years of varied human resources management experience, having held senior executive positions with The Kroger Co., Cintas Corp., International Paper and Cincinnati Bell. Tom has served on several boards, currently including privately held companies and a private university. He merged his employee performance management consulting practice with Pathway Guidance LLC, becoming a partner in the regional strategy planning and execution firm, servicing the mid-market.

He has taught human resources management at the graduate school level, holds a law degree from Chase College of Law, Northern Kentucky University, and a bachelors in psychology from Denison University. He has attended executive education programs at Duke University, Michigan University and Harvard University. He has been certified in a variety of talent assessment programs including Myers-Briggs, DDI's Targeted Selection, Lominger's Career Architect and the AMA's Competency Lab. He is a leading interpreter of the Devine Inventory behavioral assessment. Tom has lectured internationally regarding the use of management competency systems as a means to implement organizational strategy.
